Bologna, a jewel!

A walk through the compact medieval city centre is like visiting an open-air art exhibition: churches, palaces and monuments, the 97.2 metres high tower (only 498 steps; good luck....), the 40-km long porticoes that have been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and much more.

La Dotta, La Grassa, La Rossa

Founded in 1088, Bologna's  university is the oldest continuously operating university in Europe - hence La Dotta - The Learned.
T
homas Becket, Petrarca, Copernicus, Erasmus, Albrecht Dürer, Thomas Becket, Petrarca, Copernicus, Erasmus, Albrecht Dürer, to name just a few of its illustrious alumni, have preceded you in passing the stunning courtyard.

La Grassa..... The Fat. Well, you will discover the meaning of that nickname soon enough, with the many traditional restaurants (osterie), small artisan foodshops (botteghe), food markets and the largest agri-food park in the world, Fica Eataly World.

La Rossa, finally, The Red, refers to the terracotta color of the brick buildings, but according to some, it is also a reflection of the political colour.

Bologna & your meeting

Bologna has excellent accessibility. The international airport, located only 7 km. from the historic centre, connects the city to the main Italian and European airports. Bologna is also a railway junction: Florence is 37 minutes away by high-speed train, Milan just over an hour and Venice can be reached in less than an hour and a half.

Bologna offers over 13.000 hotel rooms and has plenty of meeting meeting venues, ranging from conference centres and hotels to historic venues. For your social event there are enough venues to consider. How about a Gala Dinner in one of the historic Pallazzi in the city centre, or a spectacular evening in the Ferrari museum?

Palazzo di Varignana

We had the chance of staying at Palazzo di Varignana, where we attended an international networking event. A beautiful hotel resort and conference centre set in the hills just outside Bologna. The hotel has 140 spacious guest rooms offering stunning views on the countryside and Bologna.

The 300 m2 Conference Centre is housed in the 18th-century villa, the perfect venue for any type of meeting or event, whether it is a business event, a conference or exhibition, a dinner or a wedding. The multi-functional meeting rooms are well equipped, modern and light. And as a bonus you will certainly enjoy the impressive private art collection and the Roman mosaic going back to the 1st century BC.
